Material Files

Z-mat has its own input file syntax when working with the different FEA solvers. The input file is an object oriented format which not only allows inputting of parameters such as coefficients and algorithm controls, but actually configures the models to be used in an extremely dynamic way. It is in fact possible to arrange material model "building bricks" such as flow laws, yield criteria, and hardening rules into completely novel formulations at the input file level. Some examples describing the basic file format structures in all the Z-mat products are given on the pages Input Files in Zebulon and Materials.

The following little image shows how the addition of options in a Z-mat imput file directly reflects the equations of the model being used.
